As this profile shows, our company has a solid proven experience in catering for each client’s specific and ongoing communication technology requirements. Our customer focus is to be a one-stop shop in telematics, asset/fleet management as well as personal security and safety.
It is the mission of the directors and management of Transcom Communications Systems Pty Ltd to advance our market position as a leading-edge developer and supplier of mobile data systems technologies, exceeding our client's expectations and consistently achieving client satisfaction. The needs and satisfaction of our clients are considered critical success factors for the company and are continually monitored and assessed.
Furthermore, we aim to understand each client's business processes and customize or tailor solutions to deliver real benefits. We will continue to develop our designs and products to ensure they deliver excellent business solutions, exceed each client's requirements and meet the needs of the markets we are serving.
To maintain these objectives requires continuous improvement in the functions carried out within the company and a sustained commitment by all personnel, together with the development of strong supplier and subcontractor relationships to ensure external support functions contribute to our objectives. The practice of maintaining manufacture to equal or exceed Australian Quality Assurance standard is fundamental to all work undertaken by the company and is practiced by all personnel as part of their daily activities. Quality is enhanced by working in a systematic manner, in accordance with formalized internal procedures.
Transcom Communications Systems Pty Limited (Transcom) was founded in 1985 as a research company, specializing in the development and manufacture of wireless technology. As a result of its successful R&D activity, our company maintains extensive patents for its technologies in numerous countries.
Transcom was acquired in 2002 by the current management in a buy out and its registration change from an Unlisted Public Company to Private was effected in 2003. Transcom has a solid history of new-direction research and development (R&D) expense of about $20M over 15 years and qualifies for 175% tax concession on its annual R&D Program.
Currently, Transcom specializes in providing a comprehensive suite of wireless mobile enterprise systems (with integrated voice) to the infield service, courier, transport, logistics and utility markets.
The marketplace for Wireless Mobile Enterprise is constantly changing with the advances in communications and computer technologies. Transcom regularly reviews the state of the marketplace, especially with regard to competitor offerings, with the view to planning and adjusting its strategic response.
Changing Marketplace:
Transcom Communication Systems Pty Limited commenced penetration of the Wireless Mobile Data Market in 2002, and has subsequently consolidated its position as a market leading mobility business solutions provider to the courier, transport, infield service, mining, government, SME and security sectors.
The changes in the business culture of the traditional network operators (as a result of increasing competition and improved network and product technologies) has created a requirement for value-added products and services for use on their existing networks and also as a remedy for better utilization of network/infrastructure to hold market share.
Simultaneously companies working in the movement of freight and infield client servicing industries have been under pressure to increase productivity, reduce costs and provide more responsive, professional and cost effective service(s) to clients. These companies, typically working in highly competitive and cost sensitive markets, have been forced to work their vehicle fleets harder by keeping them in the field for increasing periods of time. This in turn (amongst other considerations) requires a secure reliable communications system, which allows the use of free-form text and messaging with integrated voice.
Additionally, new entrants into the deregulated communications markets are actively offering cheaper and more easily accessible network services and products.
These events have created a significant niche market opportunity for turn-key specialized companies like Transcom with products and services specifically tailored to suit the network providers as well as the ultimate consumers. These market forces have been gathering momentum since early 1997 and became a cohesive market opportunity around in late 2001, in line with the switch-on of GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) and, more recently, 3G and satellite networks in Australia and overseas.
Strategic Response:
Transcom pioneered the one-stop shop concept for the wireless mobile data market, particularly for courier, transport, infield service and SME's and government agencies. Our company endeavors to meet all our client's Mobile Enterprise technology requirements. Transcom manufacture a range of mobile communications gateway devices (as shown in our products section) that meet all levels of fleet mobile requirements from AVL GPS tracking and Advanced Telematics to high-end Mobile Resource Management devices, which conform to the new Australian IAP standards (a worlds best practice endeavor) in fleet management.
Transcom also supplies a proven range of mobile accessories and mobile antennae technologies that meet the varied technical and robust performance requirements for fleet communications ranging from metro, country and remote areas within Australia. All technology offered by Transcom comes with the added bonus of built in scalability. This provides a tremendous advantage of enabling an organization to expand its business capabilities as its operational, reporting and client demands change. Our Company Profile provides a comprehensive overview of our offerings and capabilities.
Transcom has a proven track record in catering for any client's specific and ongoing mobile communication technology requirements. This is demonstrated by Transcom's over two-decade history of project successes, some involving long-term on-going business relationships with our clients. Amongst many projects Transcom has undertaken, there is a $5M R&D AusIndustry Program called UcelNet (Underground Cellular Mine Communications System) in conjunction with Curtin University in Western Australia. Currently, we are involved in a new $1.5M project called “SECUREwatch”, an advanced Personal and Asset Safety & Security Monitoring System with global monitoring potential that commenced development in late 2007.
Recent Projects:
In recent times, one of our main areas of project success has involved Transcom's SECUREzone Advanced Web AVL & Telematics Platform. The SECUREzone platform has been in operation for 2 years with proven success and a fast growing customer base. To date, our most popular device has been the MCG3000. There is an emerging strong interest in the MCG3000H with its Iridium short burst data capability for unbroken remote wireless coverage for GPS tracking and other advanced telematic operations. In October 2008 we will release our new MCG1000 Low Cost, basic AVL technology for mass market applications. Here are just three recent examples of our SECUREzone technology applications:
2008: Dowsing Concrete (Concreting Subcontractor to Shire Councils)
Dowsing Concrete operates a fleet of vehicles performing concrete laying services. This customer had a need to monitor drivers due to performance and contractual issues. This resulted in the implementation of the MCG3000 devices with Driver i—buttons (ID) linked to the vehicle ignition actuation. This ensured the company was able to track the drivers constantly, confirm that they were the correct driver associated to a vehicle at any time from a pool of vehicles (as drivers swapped vehicles constantly and confirmed actual arrival/depart times. As well, business versus private use, which had become an abuse issue. The result is a radical transformation of driver behavior and productivity gain. The system will pay for itself in the short term.
2007: Cool Couriers (Refrigerated Courier Vans)
Cool Couriers is an operator in the emerging Refrigerated Courier market with offices in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. They operate a full mobile data PDA job dispatch, GPS Tracking & Telematics system supplied by Transcom. All systems are hosted and supported in each state. SECUREzone features strongly for fleet GPS tracking and “live” refrigerated temperature monitoring (telematics) on a 24/7 basis. Live data is fed back every 60 seconds and forms a total view of the business KPI's, driver behavior and performance, and HACCP monitoring and compliance, which has improved business marketability, new contracts and customer service.
2007: City of Melville (Council Rangers, Waste Trucks and Street Sweepers)
The City of Melville (CoM) is a renowned, pace setting Council in Western Australia. CoM has applied the MCG3000 technology and the SECUREwatch Personal Securer Device into their various divisional operations. The MCG3000 is used for GPS tracking, Truck PTO boom lifts, engine revs and speed alerts, plus more. This data is accessible by the CoM in our SECUREzone H24 Web system as well they require a separate live data feed direct from our hosting platform to feed data into their back office GIS Parcel Map database for internal applications and analysis.
Past High Profile Projects:
Our past projects not only show our success in managing and successfully completing projects on-time and within budget but also our emphasis on sustaining good on-going business relationships with our clients.
