Resources

Part of its commitment to a one-stop shop for signed-up clients and customers, Transcom is developing a suite of resources. There are also readily available free and open source resources available to interested parties.


 

 Wiki & Tools

Transcom operates the Transcom Portal for clients and customers. It currently offers the following:

  • Document Wiki
  • Software Tools

These resources are only available to established clients, customers and employees. To access this resource, you will need to register for a username and password. Registration is automatic once you have become a Transcom customer. We will notify of your access rights asap. Once you have been notified, go to the access page of the Transcom Portal via this link.


 

 Support & Emergency!

In keeping with its commitment to a one-stop shop approach, Transcom is constantly seeking ways to assist its existing clients or customers.

 Customer Support

Transcom provides an official National (Australia) Helpdesk service that geared for customer support. For customer support on general issues or concerns, go to the customer support section on the contacts page.

 Emergency!

Transcom provides an official National (Australia) Helpdesk service that is also geared to handling emergencies, especially for its SECUREwatch program. For customer support in an emergency, go to the emergency section on the contacts page.


 

 Software

Some files on the Transcom website require the use of special software to access their content e.g. pdf documents, multimedia files etc. Links to websites where copies of these programs can be downloaded are given below. Other software shown may be of interest.

 Document Readers

The de facto standard for electronic document interchange (EDI) are portable document format (pdf) files . A program that can access their contents is required so that a user can view and read the document.

Adobe Logo Adobe Acrobat Reader

Web:  http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

This is a widely used program that opens and read *.pdf files. Select the version that is compatible with your operating system.


 Multimedia Players

Media players enable you to play audio or video files in a number of different file formats.

Real Logo Real Player

Web:  http://www.real.com

This program is used to play back audio and video files and streams commonly found on the internet.


Quicktime Logo Quicktime

Web:  http://www.apple.com/quicktime/products/

This program can play *.mpeg files and is the only one that can play back Apple's *.mov files for video.


Winamp Logo MS Winamp

Web:  http://www.winamp.com

This program can be used to play back common internet file types such as *.mp3 files.


Media Player Logo MS Windows Media Player

Web:  http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/

This program can be used to play back common internet formats such as live audio streams, audio files such as *.wma or video files such as *.wmv files.


 Compression Programs

Compression programs compress and decompress the size of a file. By compressing a file its size is reduced and can be sent offer the internet more quickly and with reduced traffic cost.

Winzip Logo Winzip

This program compresses files as *.zip files and also decompresses them.


Winrar Logo WinRAR

Web:  http://www.win-rar.com

This program compresses and decompresses files using *.zip or *.rar file formats.
